Let’s face it. Ideas are a dime a dozen. I’m sure I could give you any topic and within 5 minutes you’d be able to come up with a list of ideas that coordinated with it. Coming up with ideas is easy.
But on the flip side, being inspired… that’s something that you have to act on the moment it hits. If you’re anything like me, given the opportunity and allowed to stagnate, my brain will do one of two things:
- Forget it altogether (or just remember the most unimportant pieces).
- Come up with a million excuses why it won’t work and reasons not to even try.
Don’t let that happen. Inspiration doesn’t wait around for a more convenient time. It’s like a unicorn, if you can catch it and hold on it’ll be magic. So if you’re serious about this freelance/small business thing, don’t put inspiration off.
If you wake up at 3am Sunday morning with the best idea and all the inspiration in the world on how to do it, you best be dragging your butt out of bed and getting to work. Cause if you go back to sleep, at 10am that inspiration is no where to be found and you’ll be more worried about breakfast. (And I promise, although it’s been deemed an urban legend, the coffee maker DOES indeed work before 6am… )
